Tail Tidy Failure (Pointy)
 

The first thing to go wrong and it's a strange one.

The other day I had the plastics off the bike for a good coating of ACF50 and noticed the tail tidy had been fitted by some kind of primate, the bolts were so tight they had deformed and cracked the alloy and cracked the rear plastics:smt070
Anyway, the problem is that where the bend is in the alloy plate it is cracking/splitting and the plate is getting more than a little wobbly.

Has anyone fitted one of these

The thought is to snap the existing tail tidy, tidy up the edges and mount one of those onto it... Or am I better just stumping up and replacing the whole thing?

Sadly that's a Motrax part.

They sell ****.

Sorry to be the bearer of unhappy news, I can't think of anything they 'make' that I'd bolt on to a bike of mine, with the exception of one small item that's very useful in a sorry situation.

And they nicked the idea for that from someone on here.

I have that motrax tail tidy. It's good.

Hasn't rusted or suffered paint flake at all in the 2 years I've had it

I used a b&q bracket £1.50. Sod the overpriced biker crap :D

I'm realllly short of cash at the moment but will replace it with a evotech one as soon as I can, for a temporary measure I have bent some 1mm alloy strip into 90° bends and Araldited them in place...

The bike is still being used a lot but when the weather gets bad I will be bringing it out of service and having a good go at some little jobs, What size are the bolts holding the cap on the rear brake fluid reservoir?
Mine are corroded to hell and will probably be mangled on removal so I need to get some stainless ones ordered. Might as well change the manky brown fluid, I have some snazzy blue stuff 'in stock' that I use in the car (ATE Super Blue DOT4)

I think they are 'machine screw's', I am pretty sure they have a countersunk head but was wondering what the thread size and length was, Like I say they look like they will be on a one way trip to the bin so I don't want to remove one to measure it and not be able to tighten it back up.
