Remember those..

Did everyone remember to do 2 minutes silence earlier?

I got somewhat frustrated at the office bints who whilst wearing a poppy, gave me utter evils and "what are you on about"? looks. This was even though i was pointing at the clock, pointing at my poppy, then putting a finger on my lips (the shusshhh motion).

FFS, what are you wearing a poppy for if your not actually paying attention? Its not a fashion statement.

I rememberd those during 11am, it took 2 minutes of my time, its free, and its a rememder as to why we all have it so good today.

Wonder if those rebellious students remembered? Might give them some meaning as to why they are free to do said protests really. Most likley not though.

Rant but rememberence over :smt071:-({|=:notworthy:

in my office the fire alarm sounded and 2 mins later sounded again.

Telephones were not answered etc.

When we were based at Trafford Park there was a memorial for all those employees who fell in both world wars, it contained a book listing the employment details and what was known of them. Every day when security unlocked. They would turn the page so you got to know the details of all.

When the site was shut and knocked down. Great efforts were made to preserve the memorial and book. But I think it ended up in a community centre on Trafford Park

And after a quick google I found the old factory memorial in its new location
http://manchesterhistory.net/manches.../village10.jpg

Looking at the size of the lists to the side, it far exceeds most village lists It must have hit this one factory very hard.

I did, it was up to you're own choice if you did, email went round suggesting you did...

A few didn't, actually a surprising amount didn't :(

Almost no one did it here.

There were a few at the other side of the office and it went quiet on that side (I just stopped what I was doing) but most folk were just running around in the labs.

Something that I always adhere to.

Do we? Do we really? Would it really have been that bad under German rule? I suppose that we dont and wont ever know. Just remember that we rebuilt most of Germany.
