First pillion, first crash & Saturday night a&e

Wow eventful night! Luckily all ok but could have been worse.. Took the bro and his mrs to skunk anansie gig in manc tonight and as he's only cbt I took his mrs pillion and we went back roads. Great ride there amazing gig and all was well until ...

Oxford road loads of lights and crossroads. Overtook a few buses that kept stopping for passengers and then the next one as the same as the rest, bus pulled over and stopped so we stayed in right lane and pressed on. Turns out the double decker was hiding the red light for a junction so I slammed on the anchors and braced for my passenger to run into me.. Stopped over the line but out of harms way. Phew. Then crash, brother thought same of bus, only realised when i'd stopped and the bus peeped to warn us. His ybr brakes no match for my gixxer 4pots, clips my pillion and me and shoots past us sliding down the road. Proper scary but gets up and dusts off and no broken pegs / bones and lots of people helping out. Turns out biggest injury was his shin from pillion footpeg, large gouge exposing an inch of bone :S through 3 layers of protection!! unfortunately just above top of boot. rode home before looking at the leg and got back safe before him getting on mine and heading to a&e... All patched up and finally in bed at 6.30am...

Immediately thought oh crAp his bike is gonna be fudged after he only got it back after vandalism last week but worst damage seems scratched footpegs and wonky headlight!

So surreal, first pillion, first crash and it happened to be with my own brother! Could have been so much worse so Great to see ths full set of equipment do it's job and reassuring to know.

Ride safe peeps! Night!

Ah the mighty YBR, so versatile :-D Really glad to hear you're both relatively unscathed, could have been a lot worse!

Glad everyone survived relatively unscathed. Those YBRs do seem to crash well, for a Chinese built bike.

They bloody don't. The fork legs are the softest cheesium crap I have ever seen. MYC managed to crease one just by the wheel spindle digging into the mud at the side of the road in an off... didn't even hit anything hard!

Wow, sounds like an eventful night. Glad to hear that other than a minor injury every one is OK.

The best thing about 125cc training bikes is that crashes and scrapes don't damage them, they give them character!

Bugger, but it could have turned out a lot worse.

Was it the first time you had taken a pillion ? I hate braking hard with a pillion, I keep expecting a rear head butt.

Had a brown trouser moment myself today, behind another bike who slowed for a right turn, I was a fair distance away, hit the brakes and immediately the rear locked up and started coming around to my right, at this point, I let go of the front brakes thinking if the roads are greasy I don't wanna slide the front as well, took my foot off rear at this stage and reapplied it, locked again but this time the back comes around to my left, so I release the brakes altogether and just coast past the junction.

How I managed to keep 'control' I never know.

The sprint is not coming out again when the roads are so bad, it's the DRZ now for a few months.
