Sealing the fuel tank - worth the aggro?
Hi all
I'm debating weather to seal the inside of the curvy fuel tank. Is the £35 for the kit and the week it would take to do worth it? Thanks Andy |

Does your tank leak?

not yet.
Just heading it off, before it does. |

What makes you think it will?

Re: Sealing the fuel tank - worth the aggro?
It's never £35!?
Got a mate who restores a lot of classics, he's tighter than me so can't see him splashing out £35 on every bike. Will ask him what he uses. Personally if it ain't leaking I wouldn't bother unless you have good reason to believe it will. |

the bike sat for around 3 years (at least) unused/ hardly used before I bought it.
The bike never saw a mechanic until it came north and i bought it from a dealer. I know the bike has had a tap failure, when they dealer serviced it and MOT'd it. Which was full of crap. |

Its cheaper for the larger volumes |
Re: Sealing the fuel tank - worth the aggro?
apparently ethanol in modern fuels is a bit fierce and brings the sealant off. Just make sure the water drain in the fuel cap recess is clear - that's a more likely place for a leak.

The US spec sealer is ethanol resistant as they've been using the stuff since the 1990's |
