Asylum seeker hit and run
As many of you will see on the news today
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england...shire-12007100 Just speechless :( my dad said if my grandad could see what was becoming of this country thanks to its legal system he'd be breakdancing in his grave. Due to this guy having children  born here it would be against his human rights to send him back where he belongs. Human rights for an innocent British schoolgirl mowed down in the street obviously don't come into it |
Re: Asylum seeker hit and run
"How can he say he's deprived of his right to a family life? The only person deprived of a family life is me. Amy was my only family."
Says it perfectly IMO. I can understand Houstons frustration THoughts like "What are the judges saying here? They are saying it doesn't matter what you do when you come here, who you kill, what laws you break, as long as you have a child here you can stay? Cross my mind when read/hearing the details of this case. |
Re: Asylum seeker hit and run
Thuis is a very very hard case. It's desperately sad.
But what good would it do to send this person back to Iraq? It would simply break another family. The scrote might have had a child to avoid being deported but the fact is that the child exists, the child isn't to blame for what happened, and why should that child lose its father? |
Re: Asylum seeker hit and run
I thik it's more to do with the well being of his children.
He's been given the jail sentence for his crime (and I'm assuming it was the typical sort of sentence for this crime). Why should he have to do more and make his children and partner suffer further? |

He was a criminal, who commited further crimes and has again since, what benifit is it to the UK to keep him here. ASIC his family MUST pay the price for his mistakes by seeing him removed, if they;re loyalty is to their farther then they're free to go with him. zero sympathy for him, unfortunatly yes this does mean I've no sympathy to the secondary victims to any punishment he incures. |
Re: Asylum seeker hit and run
simple solution
have a imagration rule that if covicted of a crime which carries a sentance of more than 5 years your deported no matter what the situation |

Re: Asylum seeker hit and run
I understand what you're saying Ed, 2 wrongs don't make a right. Is it presumptuous of me to wonder what kind of father this **** poor excuse for a human being will make?
This just highlights though what a joke our system is. He was an asylum seeker who failed in his application = should have been deported straight away. And yet he was free to roam about and had already been disqualified from driving once before he killed the poor girl. This was 7 years ago. Then the judge (who obviously couldnt tell his @rse from his elbow) gives him 4 months jail, he gets out and is obviously free to roam about again and between then and today has managed to have 2 kids. If the system worked he wouldnt have been in a position to kill the girl let alone have the 2 kids. Change is needed  Ps my other halfs a solicitor so I come on here to vent rather than take it out on her :smt042 |
Re: Asylum seeker hit and run
Oh I entirely agree - the system is really dismal. That's if you can call it a 'system'. The problem is that it's so beset with delays and appeal possibilities. But that doesn't alter the fact that this Iraqi now has two British children who are entitled to a United Kingdom passport. All very well saying that they can go with him, but why should they lose their home, their friends, their schooling, and so on? They are British citizens, like it or not, and have a right to be treated just like you or me.

Re: Asylum seeker hit and run
I know this isn't exactly the same, but I have a very good old friend who emigrated to Australia many years ago. She married an Australian and had twins with him. She has now divorced from her husband.
She would really like to come back to the UK, but feels she can't because of her children. As she says, she may be British but her children are Australian. She hasn't been convicted of anything or has ex hubby, but you can see that sometimesthe needsof the children should come first |
