Carb vacuum lines extended - problem.
 

Serviced the steed t,other day and while i was at it i installed vacum lines to the front and back carbs ready for a carb balance check and adjustment (which i havent done yet).

When i started the bike it sounded like something wasnt right. Throttle response is now a bit lazy where as before it was nice and crisp.

Will the vacum lines ive installed cause this problem until i balance the carbs?

You have blocked their ends haven't you? If yes then it sounds like there's a leak somewhere.
Recheck everything that's disturbed.

Yea theres a golf tee in each line. The only other thing ive done latley is take the choke plungers out and greased the springs? Didnt replace the seals as they looked ok?

Make sure there are no holes in those pipes and they are a tight fit or safety wired on, they make absolutely no difference when done right.

So just to be sure, it dosnt matter what length the lines are or if they are the same length, as long as they are airtight?

No difference at all, the bike does not care.

Maybe if you used 1" pipe that was 20' long, but small pipe any sane person would use, it is fine. Even with a metre long tube.
