Quill EVO2 exhausts - Are they any good?
Are they any good as I am looking for a can for a late curvy and am considering any of these:
MTC round Delkevic Oval stubby Fuel Oval BEOWOLF stubby oval Hawk Black Round Quill EVO2 Oval The Quill is being sold direct from Quill on ebay at the moment for just under £150 free P&P Here which seems a good deal. Thanks. |
Re: Quill EVO2 exhausts - Are they any good?
the quill is a decently built can (fitted 3), but not the throatiest out there, however it does make as good a noise as most fitted to the SV, the option to make it road legal is advisable come MOT time as well, but to be honest just about anything that'll fit will do the job, pick the one you like.

Re: Quill EVO2 exhausts - Are they any good?
Ideally I want the noisiest with the baffle in, MOT legal and and ideally wanted a stubby (the Quill is 400mm I think). I was looking at the Street extreme but am too tight to put my cash down on that. It is just a lot lower price than on the Quill website.
I have a race Viper in the shed but that is too noisy. |
Re: Quill EVO2 exhausts - Are they any good?
I had Quill T3s fitted to my GSXR1000 and my ZX9R. I liked the build quality and the fact that they were road legal without the need for an additional baffle to be fitted, but when you opened them right up they changed in noise characteristics. My Gixer was especially quiet at town speeds, but I was told it was as loud as a Yoshi race can at high speed, it certainly sounded loud from where I was sitting.

Re: Quill EVO2 exhausts - Are they any good?
I think you'll find unlike the T3's the EVO2 doesn't have the internal baffle plates (as it's built as a race pipe), so without the bolt in baffle is just a straight through pipe, I could be wrong, but seem to remember it that way.

yeah it surprised me when I fitted an EVO2 as I thought all quills were internally baffled, but it would seem not :smt102

Re: Quill EVO2 exhausts - Are they any good?
There's a thread on here somewhere with lads chatting bout the delkevic, from what I read they were delighted with them, have only heard clips on you tube myself but they're supposed to be throaty, im about to buy an exhaust and its between the delkevic or a devil for me.

I know it's not what you asked, but following from Lozzo's post, my curvey SVS has a Quill T3 which I like. It smooths out the 5k torque dip nicely and as Lozzo says it's nicely quiet at town speeds but gets pleasantly throaty at pace. It's a slightly deeper note than the stock can, just a touch more beefy. Might well be too subdued for you.
Build quality seems pretty good, although as supplied the link pipe put it too far back for my tastes, it looked "hung out the back", so the pipe was shortened a bit. Also for insurance, it's all stamped up with the BS mark and the manufacturer's claim is only just over one BHP increase and my ins co. only added a token increase on the premium (a few quid). |
