A quick question, selling car and buying a van

I am 24 and have 4 years NCB on cars. I have just sold my car and decided i would like a fiesta van or corsa van.

Can i just call my insurance and give them the registration number and insure myself or is there something i am missing.

Basically, what do i have to check when buying a van as i have never owned one before. Just rented one once or twice.

Is the vehical in the pictures even classed as a van. I like the idea of the one below as it is a van but with 5 seats. I kind of need a van but need the 5 seats as well which means the car/van below would be ideal.

Thanks ian

Pretty sure you can just change your vehicle over with current insurer, couple of mates have had vans in the past and never mentioned about having to get specialist van cover, although it does depend on what you are using it for (insured for social domestic and pleasure, or for work use) and if you need goods in transit insurance.

BTW, I am a courier and have used many different vans. The company I work for have not long got rid of one of those vauxhall combi vans and I can honestly say it was one of the worst vans that I have driven. The steering felt awful, the gearbox nasty, and I used to get cronic back ache every time I drove it. The steering rack broke and sent one of the drivers at work into a hedge.

We also have Ford Transit Connects. Brilliant little vans.

You should be able to just call your insurer to change over. Give them a call before you do anything, just in case.

If you are using the van for work, this includes working at different locations, then you need to tell the insurers. I don't know anything about this van but I would also check that the van originally had 5 seats and this is not a home conversion otherwise things can get messy at insurance and MOT times.
