Something went pop - Suggestions please

Asking and hoping you're all willing to help me brainstorm a problem:

Following on from fixing any bent, dented etc parts on the bike following on from Fridays events - - > http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=161310

I set off to work this morning and everything was normal (with exception to a flat battery but I assumed this was more to do with my leaving the hazards on for about an hour while I tinkered with a faulty indicator. Anyway everything was working normal no problems to report etc until whilst accelerating hard onto the motorway something went.

It felt very similar to when the curvy used to get soaked and loose a cylinder in the rain, only this is a pointy and its not raining today... Plus when I stopped and checked it didnt seem so much like the cylinder wasnt working, instead it just sounded really rough.
So I've booked the afternoon off and intend to get my fingers dirty however I could do with as many suggestions as you've got regarding what to investigate.

Things to consider:
Oil level is good,
Oil Filter is recently new,
Its been laid down recently,
Was running fine, until suddenly while opening the throttle it has became very under powered.

Any help, comments, advisorys etc would be apprechiated.

Was it running on 1 cylinder?
Crap could have got through the system from the dropped fuel tank.
Cables to the throttle ok?
Ht leads on properly, could have dislodged a touch on the drop?
If its running on both cylinders smoothly but with no power, not sure, it could be loads of things.
Ecu, not getting all the info it needs, so limping along.
Valves possibly, not sure how they would get damaged but something like that could explain loss of power and rough running.

Check the basics before pulling engine apart.
Electrics,
coils,
ht leads,
spark plugs,
Exhaust, does it still look ok, any leaks?

Not sure what else to add to that TBH, any FI light that could give you a fault code?
Fuel pump has a filter on it so it #shouldn't# be a blockage, but you never know

I am free today so if you are stuck give me a call

Im gonna stop off and pick up some plugs etc, to do a service I recon see if that helps and see if I can spot anything else along the way, check the exhaust and then prob give you a call then Chris. :)

if its been running on its side could it have pumped a little bit of oil into the airbox? gets sucked into the throttle bodies on full throttle and boggs it all down?

thats my 2penneth :)

or a loose lead

I'd guess the same. Maybe oil went up the crank breather tube and into the air box same as Andy said.

Thats not possible is it? i mean run on its side? isnt there a tilt sensor or something on it that cuts the engine if it goes down.

Regardless if it has a tilt switch or not. If the bike is on its side, there is a chance for the oil to run up the breather pipe and into the airbox.

I dont doubt that its possible, i was questioning the bike 'running'.
Tbh, the fact that the bike was running sweet for a bit suggests to me that wasnt the case anyway, i would have thought oil in the airbox would have an effect almost immediately (?)
Its the sudden pop then lack of power that would concern me.
