Racing advice
 

I've jsut bought a 2007 sv650 low mileage to convert for racing. so far from the people iv spoken to the mods to be made are Power commander, Exhaust, Fork springs and a rear shock. plus race bodywork and rear-sets etc etc. iv already fitted an ohlins shock i had, so i was wondering what advice you can give for the other parts including set up?

I personally wouldnt bother with a power commander, if you can, get the bike along with any race exhaust that you plan to use (or not) along to somebody with the skill and equipement to remap the stock Suzuki ECU. You'll likely find it cheaper and lighter to do this than fitting a PC.

thanks for the advice. its mike isnt it? i remember racing with u at anglesey last year when they mixed the minitwins with the 125's. where would you recomend taking it? i think motrac is closest to me?

yep, thats me :-)

I dont know what capabilities they have at Motrac for remapping of the Suzuki ECU but its worth a try, he knows his stuff there.

I used Steve Jordans down south, it was a long trip but worth it. I managed to merge it with a business trip also so that helped.

As Flymo says all our bikes have run a map direct to the ECU. They have all made pretty damn close to the 72bhp limit and gone onto win plenty of championships running that setup. Plus it saves you some £ to spend on extra tracktime and tyres which IMHO in a power limited class is worth just as much. We use the Pro Bike software but someone who is handy with a Yoshi box will do just as good a job.

watch out though the Dynojet centres will tell you its crap and not worth doing! I guess results speak for themselves!
