Hello,

I spent yesterday afternoon at the Royal Brompton hospital which is where Chris has been moved to ahead of probable surgery to fit a defibrillator. He will most likely be stuck there for another few days while they run more tests.

Unlike Watford, visiting hours at Royal Brompton are much more flexible so if you have a chance to pop in and see him this week I'm sure he'd love it as he's bored (and must be sick of the sight of me by now - he only lets me in because I take cake and sausage rolls.)

He is in Bay 1 of the York Ward on the fifth floor - just go in the main entrance and they can direct you. Visiting is officially 2.30pm to 8pm but if you can only make it outside of these times then call the ward and they can advise on if they can allow you to visit. Also might be worth checking with them in case he is having tests.

Senior nurse/ modern matron: Annette Sprules
Location: Level 5, Sydney wing
Telephone : 020 7351 8592

South Kensington is the nearest tube. There are bike bays nearby but it's worth fluttering your eyelashes at the parking booth atendant to see if he'll let you park on site.

I'll give that a go but i doubt it'll work for me somehow. And if it does i'll be even more worried
Well i may well pop in after work tonight then as its not far from here and he can laugh at the state of my jacket and bruises too.

IS he still screaming profanities at random staff members or is he over that now?

Nah, he just swears at me mostly. Terms of endearment, possibly.

Do you think The Brompton would object if we all turned up on Friday evening and just stood around his bed drinking coffee??

Ah, and will he still be able to tell tall stories if he's fitted with a defibrillator??

Keith.

Well Zig, you can give it a try! Make sure he offers you some chocolate cake.

Keith.

If he's on beta blockers then he'll be able to pass lie detector tests.

I hope he'll be home by Friday. The coffee/tea/hot chocolate is paid for on a donation basis and he's easily got enough chocolate cake to feed all of us, so yeah, if he's still there this Friday why don't we all turn up at once!

Give the ward a call and as long as it isn't too late I'm sure they'll still let you visit. Just DON'T turn up in a PVC nurses outfit as

1) His heart might not be able to stand it
2) The other nurses won't be happy if you turn up looking all glam and they are in their frumpy outfits
