extended rear hugger?

Hi All,

Just a quick question, anyone know if there are any rear huggers available for the SV which have a large enough arc to act more like a mud guard? Atleast stopping the spray on the rear lights when you have a tail tidy fitted anyway...

edit: silly question, just had a look and with the arc required I may as well refit the snow plough...a hugger that long would just look wrong me thinks...ho hum

People over on the BlackBird site use a 'Buttflap'. I kid you not, not my cup of tea but does exactly what you ask.

Worst you could do is enquire and get told they only do them for the BlackBird??

Mmmm, might be something I'll have a play about with but not spend £20 on...more like £2. Maybe a clear piece of thin perspex bent the right way will do the job...

To be honest it takes the look that I like away, and who wants a "butt flap" on their bike :)

If I wanted function over look I would have probably never bought a tail tidy or would have put back the original tail unit by now.

If I can find a cheap alternative I'll give it a go, otherwise nah forget it...Thanks anyway, never knew they existed, food for thought for sure!

I made a wedge shaped bit of wood and fitted it between my plate and tail tidy to angle the plate upwards..

Depending on where the top of your plate sits, this might/might not work.

bingo...I was thinking angling the plate upwards a bit would do the same as the "buttflap" (what a name!)

Don't the plate screws fit at an angle? Or do you do it some how to get around that?

Like the idea of an extra plate fastened to the number plate (especially if I can do it for a couple of quid).

Not sure if I would get pulled if the plate wasn't 'properly displayed' when it was bent upwards like MB's.
The fedarales round our way would I'm sure find it interesting as the employ anpr.

I only needed the wooden wedge and used the original plastic nuts/bolts that were holding the plate on, as there plastic they have a small amount of flex in them.

Not had to touch them since initial fitting.

I've not had any problems with the police "yet", I don't think it's at an angle that would cause ANPR not to be able to read it.
