YC appreciation thread

Is there already a thread? I couldn't find it, I know there was one for Spannerman but thought our friendly neighbourhood yorkie could do with one.

Took my used and abused (yes I know I've owned it since new, stop reading between the lines) K6 in as it was struggling to change gear. The lever was so badly corroded it barely moved, which made for an interesting ride up there from Cheshire but get it to 6th eventually and cruise as best as possible ;)

YC put in 6 hours on the poor thing, answered countless inane questions... "whats that funny shaped bit?" "they are wheels" etc ;)
and the immortal line after I absent mindedly turned the rear wheel with my foot "its kind of bad manners to spin the wheel when someone has their fingers near the front sprocket mate.." 8-[ thankfully the coarse grade of cluebat was not employed :)

I mainly expected to get peace of mind from the TLC being administered (and the ability to change gear without grunting) but clearly the winters hadn't been kind to it and after all the fettling (including checking and cleaning 13 brake pistons!) it rides like a new bike. The gear changes are smooth as silk now (I just hadn't noticed it getting bad before it stopped I guess) there seems to be a good chunk more power available and I know that most bits have been daubed in enough grease to keep it safe for a good while again.

so a huge thank you to YC for the service (as always), the laughs and the education along the way. I might even remember some of it!

Can't recommend him highly enough, can't wait for the nicer weather to really get started now my bike is in such good condition!

There are clearly better things he can be doing with his intellect so if you want a better handling SV definitely get in touch, but a huge thanks for the service and maintenance on mine.
Can't wait to get out of work now to terrorize the local roads some more ;)

What you let that ham fisted, mechanically inept excuse for a man near your bike.

Your lucky to make it back in one piece, now you praise him.

Next you will be telling us that Davepreston taught him all he knows.

He is tyke, treat him with contempt.

Lancashire 1, yorkshire -1000. We won, nah, nah, ne, ne, nah.

Shut it chubbs, when you try actually riding that wheezing dildo bike of yours enough to actually need to do any work on it you can take p*ss then :-P

Ride it. FFS chris it might get dirty.

Could you come over here to show me how to clean it?

Sure, go ride round flat out until you fall off. The tarmac will apply the correct gentle scouring action required to the plastics.

Because you're a hamfisted tw*t who's better at crashing bikes than fixing them and filling me with booze occasionally is cheaper than taking your various mishaps to a garage!

P.S Come on, any more of you lot from't wrong side of't'ills want to come and have a go at sticking the knife in, seems we're having a run on it! :smt082

No, but I wouldn't mind you sorting out my suspension on my 1000. It has more adjustability than the 650 and its all voodoo magic to me :(
