Your final song or tune

went to the funeral of an old cycling aquaintance today, at 72 he was still racing and winning events in his class (king vet).

Sadley he passed away in his sleep following a suspected heart attack.

So family and friends had packed the chapel, as he was a well known and liked bloke. We heard the eulogies from family and friends, and then the service finished with the vicar asking us to give a moment of silence before the coffin was taken away.

As the moment of silence came to and end, the first bars of the song started over the speaker system.........

It instantly lightened the mood and there was laughter around the chapel. Even though there were tears from his close family, it was a fitting song to say goodbye

So what would your final song be?

Led Zep - Stairway to Heaven :smt051
Monty Python- Always look on the Bright side. :smt040

Mine would prbably be a Springsteen track, but I haven't made up my mind yet

After the thread about wills the other day, you might need to write down your last wishes. :batman:

Not that I'm thinking any gloomy thoughts :takeabow:

'Somewhere Over The Rainbow' sung by Julie Garland, from The Wizard of Oz.

"Always look on the bright side of life," aptly from The Life of Brian.

I've also picked 2 hymns, and left instructions that no one wears black ties. The more colourful the better.

I was tempted to go for a New Orleans jazz band thing for after the coffin goes for cooking but thought that a bit obtuse.

My mates Dad was born (many moons ago) and 'Entry of the Gladiators' was playing on the radiogram (guessing it wasn't a DAB set anyway).

He insists this is played at his funeral.
