I can't believe it. I've just put £20 of petrol in my diesel A3:(
Waiting for the recovery now. I think it's gonna be expensive:( Sent from my Android via Tapatalk |

You still might get away with it without it knackering the high pressure pump, just drain all system out and try it.

Re: I've done a reverse petevtwin650!!
Brother did it, in his brand new Seat Leon TDi. He'd been to fill his mrs's car with petrol, come back and took his to fill with fuel.....forgot it was his and filled it with petrol not diesel, and drove down the road where it broke.....expensive!

Re: I've done a reverse petevtwin650!!
My mate done this last week in his diesel transit, £20 of unleaded, so he topped it up with diesel and carried on driving it.
I told him not too and get it drained but he never, afaik, its still running ok, long term hes probably fecked it. |
Re: I've done a reverse petevtwin650!!
Is it diesel in a petrol, not tooo bad but petrol in a diesel, fubared?
Something to do with diesels having higher compression etc iirc. |
Re: I've done a reverse petevtwin650!!
55litre tank and you have put in £20 of petrol=15litres of petrol, add a litre of oil and fill it up with diesel to full. 15/55 about 25% +oil you will get away with it providing you haven't run the petrol neat through the engine,it might be a bit smokey for a bit but that is the petrol 2stroke mixture
In sub-zero [-20] we always added 10-15% petrol to the tank to prevent the diesel waxing up and I have never damaged an engine yet by doing it Alternatively drain the tank, and refill with diesel. You say you switched the ignition on but if you have only run what was in the fuel line and filter you will not have pulled the petrol through to the engine. If you have driven any distance before realising your mistake it might be expensive |
