Chris update - defib fitted

Appropriate for Valentine's day - Chris's broken heart is just being mended. He has just been sent in to have his S-ICD (that's a defibrillator) fitted. He should then be home in a few days, but it will mean he loses his licence for 6 months and may have to stop playing some of the sports he loves. So expect him to be grumpier than usual for a while. If he's up to it then I shall bring him to the dinner on Friday.

The S-ICD System corrects an abnormally rapid heart rhythm. The S-ICD System is not a cure for the underlying cause of the cardiac arrhythmia, but rather serves as an automatic “emergency response team” in the chest.

If you want to have a read up on it so that when you next see Chris you can sound really knowledgeable about his condition then this guide is useful.

It'll have to be a coke as I'm taking time off work so I can pick Chris up in Watford and drive him to the dinner, then take him home afterwards. We might bring his friend Matty along too, who Chris was travelling with. He's a sweetie.

He's back on the ward. His mum just texted to say he's grumpy and hungry so clearly back to normal. He's in for another couple of days so feel free to drop in and visit if you have time. PM me if you need more details.

Glad the op went well.

Strangely enough, there is a program on tonight about cardiac treatment (not sure if relevant)

'Horizon: how to mend a broken heart' on BBC2 @ 9pm.

Worth watching.

And I have my iPhone Back working so I can check up on the abuse I've probably been getting. The defib is now in unfortunately and is aching a lot. And 6 months is way too bloody long!! I'm going up the wall already. You're right Claire has been quite good you could say ;-)
