Damaged er6f 2006 for sale
Finally the time has come that I must sell this bike as there is simply nothing more I can offer it. Don't have the time or funds to try and sort it out, and Spannermans almost done putting my old SV back into one piece.
A quick summary of the bike Picked it up in November 09 from its original owner (a chap who used to ride a scooter to work but bought the er6 to make his motorway commute easier). (http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=142361). http://img530.imageshack.us/img530/4383/ninja2q.jpg It had 11,000 miles on the clock at the time, I have probably done 2,000 more miles on it if that. I haven't ridden for a while so need to confirm this mileage but it's roughly around that. I then had a little spill where the bike went down on it's right hand side. (http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=146409). Damage at the time was right fairing scratched up - replaced R. hanger and rear brake lever - replaced Tail light/plate holder - replaced bent handlebar - not replaced slightly indented exhaust - not replaced bent rear subframe - not replaced As I stripped the the bikes tail light and rear fairing I noticed that the subframe was slightly bent http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=147987. http://img692.imageshack.us/img692/848/10be.jpg http://img651.imageshack.us/img651/2750/10ax.jpg It wasn't bent enough that I couldn't work around it, and the screw holes just about sat near enough to their original positions that I could fit my replacement rear fairing/tail light pieces relatively comfortably. I also bought some R&G crash bungs. I only had time to fit the right sided bung on, but I still have the left bung and all screws etc. Rode it for another few months after I sorted it out, but come MOT time it failed the MOT unsurprisingly. http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=158939 for namely these reasons 1. Wheel alignment incorrect which adversely affects the handling (2.5.1) 2. Offside rear footrest missing (6.2.1a) 3. Handlebar deformed (2.1.1 b) They couldn't even tell the subframe was damaged. The chain however is pretty naff (rusty and dirty) and the bike should probably see a new one. Anyway with my SV being repaired, I will not be able to look after this bike any more. It's sitting in a sheltered garage going to waste. The engine is still superb, and the bike is a baby in terms of mileage. If I had funds and money would take it to motoliners myself and sort out the subframe, after that the rest would be easy. But that's me, and there's a lot of handy people on here that could probably turn this bike around themselves The price I'm willing to let it go for is £800. Gona leave it here for a while, then put it up on ebay. Bike is located in London Bridge. I've tried to be as transparent as I can, but feel free to PM me if you feel I have overlooked anything or there is anything else you would like to know. Cheers, Thulfi edit. photos taken today of the bike in its current state - a tad dirty. http://img402.imageshack.us/img402/6780/p1000999z.jpg http://img822.imageshack.us/img822/1482/p1000998c.jpg http://img266.imageshack.us/img266/693/p1000997q.jpg http://img834.imageshack.us/img834/3382/p1000995m.jpg http://img534.imageshack.us/img534/3347/p1000994c.jpg http://img821.imageshack.us/img821/3276/p1000992h.jpg |
Re: Damaged er6f 2006 for sale
More info regarding questions I was asked
The right sided fairing panels were all replaced - upper and lower front fairings as well as the right tail fairing. They were replaced with ebay fairings. Some some marks on the replacement fairings but nothing that significant. Photos to follow The bike at the moment is exactly how it was when I rode back from the MOT station. It's not stripped down. This was the last time I used the bike, so end of Octoberish time. It's been sitting in an underground private parking lot since then. The bike did not go down on the insurance register - I only ever had third party anyway and fished out the parts on ebay myself. The service history will be from the previous owner, I need to fish out the documents but if memory serves me, it was all there and gravy. I haven't serviced it. I believe the wheel alignment issue is not due to the forks/top yoke but due to the rear wheel and the uneven tightness of the chain. This is what I was told at the MOT station but I will take photos of the front for more detail. |
Re: Damaged er6f 2006 for sale
Just like to register my interest in the bike as I am very local and after something a bit more useful for touring above and beyond my CB1. :)
I am particularly curious about the wheel alignment issue if you could offer up more insight/investigation into it, that would be great. |

Re: Damaged er6f 2006 for sale
I believe the wheel alignment issue is due to uneven slack in the chain. The MOT people wernt helpful and told me there was too much gunk in there for them to bother sorting it out, plus why would they waste there time if it failed for other reasons too.
This is what I was told about wheel alignment. I shall be takiing some photos of the forks and yokes when I get a chance and upload them onto here. Cheers |

Re: Damaged er6f 2006 for sale
I'm gutted I'm not in the country at the moment as I could guarantee taking it off your hands immediately but I couldn't expect you to wait when I don't actually know when I'll be back. Earliest 24th feb, latest mid april. :( most I could do is offer a deposit at this time.
