Need some advice from the org about selling SV.

Okay so I have to sell my SV due to not being able to afford having a car & a bike. The car is the more practical option so has to stay which means bike has to go.

Now my bike cost £1500 when I bought it almost exactly a year ago, traded in my old YBR and got it £1000.

Went to the dealer today to try to see how much they'd give me for it and they are saying around £800 - £900.

do you think this is worth it?
It's a V reg, 31k miles, Full service history, few marks on body work, but nothing massive and bike still looks good and runs perfect. Got a Viper can, and mini rear hugger as well as flip screen. Now I know I could maybe get more selling private but the bike has got about a week left on the MOT and tax runs out end of this month, is probably due a service soon too so to make it attractive to a buyer I would need to get all these things done, whereas garage will take it as it is.....

What would you do? I want a hassle-free, minimum time consuming sale, so garage seems better, but price is obv less...

Help!

If the dealer offered you £800 for a hassle free sale I'd say that was good.
private sale you might get upto £1200.,..but doubt it the way things are.

Yeah that is exactly what I was thinking, I mean it's coming into the season for biking but I need to sell it and dealer seems the way to go. Thanks for your advice, more appreciated :)

You could try popping it on the site for a week or so before going back to the garage if you don't get any takers.
Try it at a grand?

Then again I tried my curvy with brand new chain & sprockets, full race system and 10k miles on the clock at a bit over a grand IIRC last year and got distraught PMs!

Well I'll find out tomorrow from the dealer the exact amount they will give me for the bike, and depending on that I may sell it to them straight away. The problem is that the MOT runs out on tuesday and I don't really want to be chipping out for that if the bike won't actually sell privately.

It's a shame people don't have money to throw away!! haha

that seems a pretty fair price for a hassle free sale,
think of it this way you could advertise it in the trader for around 1200 it would cost you around £50 notes at the end of the day then you got tyre kickers to contend with and they will beat you down 100 so just do away with the hassle

tell me about it:(

You don't still have the standard can do you? Could pop that on and sell the viper separately to retain some of your pennys.

Yeah completely agree with the appeal of a hassle free sale! To be honest I wish I didn't have to sell the bike, love it so much and will miss it massively! Ooh well when I have my own place & a garage I will get a beautiful bike =]

To be honest mate for a 99 Curvy with 31k, I don't think you'd get much more than £900 privately anyway. Even with full mot. IMHO If they will give you £900 or thereabouts you will have got a good deal.:)

i sold my curvy for less in good condition and after throwing a fair bit of money at it. for a walk away solution 800 is a cracking offer. i would say stick it on here first tho.
