33 BHP Restriction removal?

Hey all,
I passed my MOD2 last October and got my first full size bike - Suzuki SV650 K8. Being under 21, it's restricted to 33 BHP. I was just wondering about everyone's views with respect to removing the restriction? Clearly, the law doesn't advise it, but I have the certificate to say it's there, and my insurance company didn't even ask to see that! My instructor said I should just get it off, or would I be better off keeping it till more experience is gained?

Any feedback would be appreciated

TBH its your choice. What to be bared in mind is contained in the link and what happened to flameboy.

Your insurance will be for 33 brake so if you have an accident you may not be covered if the insurance find it not resricted.

If your Newcastle lad I think i know who will have said that, but will not name (I'll let you say which school it was).

Welcome to the org btw. The Pennines massive is where most of us hide

Thank you very much for the link, still getting to grips with the search function!
In his defence, he was a very good instructor, and I'm defiantly 'riding right'.
I will have a look into that, would love to get involved in some ride outs, none of my friend are into bikes as such

Was it Newcastle Rider Training or the lads at Killingworth?

It does depend on how much you upset the copper that pulls you, my mate never restricted is bandit and never got caught, but should have had 24 points for speeding

I did it through Ride Right in Westerhope, got through the whole process pretty quickly too. I did try NRT first, but wasn't getting the amount of time I wanted.

The step up from my old 125 to the 33 bhp restriction was a fair jump, just feel as though i'm wasting the capabilities of my bike a little!

Sound riding school few lads i went to school went through them.

The SV's are normally restricted, they still to 90 mph with no issue

Hi and welcome to the org.
TBH, its your own choice as to whether you leave the restrictor in, but if you do take it out n get pulled over/caught just be prepared for the consequences. Given the chance i would have taken mine out, but it got confiscated by the parents.

Thanks,
I think I will probably spend some more time giving it some thought about whether I want to take it off.
Your bike was confiscated?

No no, sorry, the full power ecu was.
TBH, i would probably (if had the choice) run it on 33bhp for a while to get used to it and then swap to full power. I only have another 5 weeks left on my restriction anyway :D

Leave it restricted. It's the law.
