Pointy 'S' FI light.
I had this come on today but I know why, numbnuts here turned the ignition on with the tank/airbox removed. Will it re-set when everything is re-attatched or will it have to go to a man with a computer that will talk to it?
In this case I think FI = Feckin Idiot:rolleyes: On the up side, the bits I was doing all turned out nicely and the reason for turning it on was to determine which plain black wire to the horn was +ve, tapped into that to trigger the relay for a Nautilus:smt040 |
Re: Pointy 'S' FI light...
Panic over, re-connected everything and turned it on, NO FI light and massivly better headlights:smt040

Re: Pointy 'S' FI light...
you fit HID's ?
my bike strangly runs with no air box on :S without any of the things connected up, no idea if the FI light is on though as i dont have one :p |
Re: Pointy 'S' FI light...
Nah I read too many things about HID's causing loads of beam scatter, fine in my car (projector type headlights) but in reflectors they dazzle oncomeing traffic.
I upgraded all the wiring, added relays and while I was at it I installed a Nautilus horn under the front fairing. I didnt take many pics but will do a write up with the oned i did take tonight if i can get the PC and phone to talk to eachother. No before lighting pics though or voltage readings, mutley meter threw a wobbler. |
Re: Pointy 'S' FI light...
ahh i see, got a HID in my light but knew it would work fine because of the light design (although still want projectors)
cool should be good to see a write up for other people of the org to follow :) |

Re: Pointy 'S' FI light...
not any more, just when the air box is off
if the fi was on my bike it would start even with all the air sensors unplugged, i though they wouldn't start if the fi light was on |

Should have just unclipped the spade connectors from the original horn and put them on the spade terminals on the relay, then connect the power from the battery to the relay and the Nautilus to the relay. I have my nautilus running that way on the SV and a Nautilus, Magnum AND the Stock horn running that way on the Z750 :) |
Re: Pointy 'S' FI light...
Well I wanted to keep the standard horn and since I already had all the plastics off for the headlight wireing I mounted all 3 relays together behind the battery and the compressor is under the rear plastics with a tube running to the horns at the front using some top bodgery (8mm copper 90° bend heated up with a blow torch and rammed in, topped off with tigerseal, I can't move it so its held firm enough)
Just as a random thing I tried, the insulation from the standard high beam power wire fits easily inside the insulation from what I fitted... |
