Speedo reads double after new pickup.

hey there can anyone shed light on why when i replaced the speed sensor on my sv650sk4 with a k4 used part its reading double the speed? is it the graphite collar inside that needs a new part or is the sensor readin kph instead of mph? it seems more like double than x1.6 cheers paul

Probably, does your dash show KPH or MPH besides the zero?

If so:

Press 'Sel' until you're on the ODO (mileage screen)

Hold down 'Adj' for a few seconds.

This will change it from KPH to MPH.

Was it defo an 04 part? I have a feeling the speedo sensor changed on the pointy at some stage. ( disclaimer: I'm very drunk and came here by accident while looking for the panda/Beowulf pic I saw earlier)

I'd make sure its the right part as the curvy and k3 (i think) were 4 pulse units and the pointies are 8 pulse units

K3 and K4 are 4 pulse. K5 onwards are 8 pulse

yup that more pulse = more speed

not sure if it was the clocks, sensor and rotor that changed or all just rotor and sensor
