What a Beautiful Day.
I passed my DAS in October and have been using my SV to commute all winter. I've loved it, despite wet/windy/cold and generally minging weather. Learnt a lot about riding and gained a bit off confidance.
Today was SOMETHING ELSE. I work shifts and was off today. Checked out the weather :):):)... so out on the bike I go. THE differance was awesome. Lovely dry roads, warm grippy tyres and loads off other bikers out... I attached myself to a couple of guys and learnt a lot about postioning and cornering. Didn't push myself and frequently lost them through the fast twisties. Came back totally happy, very de-stressed... Maybe GP's should persribe Motorcycle Training!!!... magic |
Re: What a Beautiful Day..
Good to hear it sir.
I passed in July so I had a few months of going nuts (for me anyway) on dry roads and really going at a swift pace. As soon as it turned wet and horrible I've basically not ridden the thing! |
Re: What a Beautiful Day.
I passed last August so had a bit of nice weather before winter hit, was great. :smt080
Ride when you can, a few weeks back I was coming home from work on a Saturday afternoon, was a brilliant day and I just wanted to continue up the A3 and go for a ride around Surrey. But instead I went home to watch the 6 nations game that was on. Regret not continuing that day, next time I got on the bike a van came out a side street forcing me to ditch the bike (or hit the van). Still haven't got the bike from the repairers yet, but should get it soon and can't wait for the next ride! |
Re: What a Beautiful Day.
I only passed September last year...what annoyed me was that I was riding the bike from new and even though I started before the weather turned I couldn't give it the beans as I was running it in, when beans were on the menu the weather was not great :(
However.....I went out at the weekend with some orgers (Reeder was too chicken though :p) and had a great time even though some of the roads were a tad mud ridden and worried me a little and it was still cold(ish) I am so looking forward to the coming months to improve my general ability and enjoy the sunny weather! edit: I have a couple de-stressing circuits sorted for a 45 minute ride of an evening....used to be a beer in the evening now it's that instead if I can help it |

Curvies out numbered pointies on that ride, it was not a good day for pointies! Although to be fair the 2 pointies clearly were the nicer of all the bikes there :) |
Re: What a Beautiful Day.
I've been lucky enough to get a couple hours yesterday and today during work time travelling between sites, BLOODY cold in the morning but been nice in the afternoon

Re: What a Beautiful Day.
Yep, its been nice being able to pin it again on the dry roads and not having to worry much about back end action!
Love that squirming feeling when coming hard out of a corner, nothing else quite like it! Days are getting longer, sunnier, warmer...wont be long before we're all complaining that its too hot... Cant wait! |

I have it bad right now...I was out on an org ride on Sunday, out again for around 70 miles yesterday afternoon/evening for the hell of it and will no doubt get out tonight again if I can slip out of the door.... I think my wife is going to lock me up soon - Note to self that I need to buy here something soon  |
