Suspending Bike for Shock change with Ratchet straps?

I would like to know if i could use a few ratchet straps to lift and hold the weight of my bike via the frame so that i can change the rear shock?

I intend to use the beams in my garage as the point to 'anchor' from.

I would love an abba stand or even to let a garage do it but im strapped for cash no pun intended.

Just did mine with straps from garage roof etc, put mine on rear paddock stand first for stability then took off rear seat and put straps through rear of subframe and i managed ok.

Did you use ratchet straps so you could get the lift or did you just use force and then tie off normal straps? I'm thinking i may have to go out and buy a rear paddock stand so i have the stability so i can give it some with the fear of it falling over.

Tied the straps off once they had taken the weight so i could get the shock out. Got a bit of help when putting new shock back in as there was a bit of jiggling to get the holes to line up to take the bolts.

I used breeze blocks under the rider foot-pegs on my curvy. Lifted on via paddock stand, but you could use ratchet straps as a hoist. Axle stands would be better. Did the job no problem.

FWIW I used ratchet straps to lift the front end up to do the forks, lifted it with no issues.

I did my shock change using ratchet straps. You have to be carefull to lift the bike a little at a time, and space the straps as wide as you can over the beam to stop it wobbling.

I used a couple of axle stands on the rear pegs
