Horn Wiring question.

Any one know where the horn wires in to the loom and what to check if it isn't working, thought it was the horn itself as it old and rust but the new one does not work either. Will start at the switch where do i go from there?

Re: Horn Wiring

One wire to the horn is permanently live, the other is neutraled by the switch.

So... check that one wire is hot, and that the other one goes neutral when you push the button.

Easy.

Think it may be the switch because it was working at the start of the week then stopped midway thru beeping at some one

I know the horns on the pointy stop working when they get too hot, Hense I have a Stebel now after someone attempting to kill me and I couldn't even warn or horn them as horn had got too hot and wasn't working when I pressed the button, silly thing.

Seems to be the connector on from the switch to the main loom, the big yellow one. Fiddled with it and cleaned, first i had everything just no horn, then horn but no indicators, then indicators and horn but no hight beam, luckily it seems to be the part of the block on the switch side.

Had same problems with mine yesterday. Looked at wiring diagrams and took switch gear to bits. All wiring is different and not connected in any way. I put it back together and was just putting everything away when I remembered I had the same problem on my old RF900 and what my brother did to make it work.

He pressed the horn button and tapped the back of the horn with a screwdriver handle. Eventually it started working. Told my it was something to do with the diaphragm sticking together and not vibrating to make the noise required.

Did this yesterday and low and behold....it worked!!! I was gutted because it took me ages to get the switch gear back together!!!

Yeah i took the switch apart and dried and cleaned it all up, but its when you fiddle with the wires in the connector block, i.e push them in harder it works, doesn't appear to be just the horn affected either
