FIRE! Flaming awesome or burning out?
I have been trying to Google/forum search this issue but not finding many decent answers.
Since taking out the removable baffle from my after market can I have noticed a nice popping noise on decel and dropping through gears, which until recently hasn't bothered me. However the other night a guy from work followed me home on his GSXR and told me that each time it pops there is a nice blue flame to go with it! This is happening fairly regularly apparently. So other than the fact that it's seriously cool and will probably make the cagers give me more room when I'm filtering :), is there anything I need to do about it? I have read that this type of flame (colour and time it occurs) could indicate a leak in the exhaust system? Anyone know for sure, or is this just something to be expected with a less restrictive exhaust on the SV? After market can is the only tweak (engine wise) on the bike. Pointy K4. Thanks, Jynx |
Re: FIRE! Flaming awesome or burning out?
Only excess fuel on the over run igniting in the exhaust
I think it was Coolgirl's bike that was famous for this Very impressive;) |
Re: FIRE! Flaming awesome or burning out?
What aftermarket is it? I don't know how to fix it, I just want one ;)

Re: FIRE! Flaming awesome or burning out?
The injected engine has a PAIR system that injects air into the exhaust to lower emissions. This is well known for causing popping and banging on the overrun. Nothing to worry about, though it can be blanked off if you want.

I have gone back onto std cans on the thou for that same reason, looks good, but I think that it might attract certain people to giving me a £30 fine or take a chance

Mikerj probably right about the pair system, good chance that its helping it to happen. I think barwel1992 has had similar on his K3 (well was a K3 once upon a time :p) |
