Standard Vs Phillips Xtreme Power Comparison Pic
 

I said I'd take a photo of my friend's curvy with standard headlights next to my pointy with the Phillips Xtreme Power a couple of weeks back and was out with him this weekend. I meant to take a day and night photo, but forgot the day one, and I don't have a fancy camera so it's not great quality but it may be useful to some of you though. I'm sure you can tell which one is which, they do make a good difference in the dark, and they improve your visibility to other road users when it's dusk or a grey day.

While I'm on the subject of headlights as I finished fitting them I noticed that on the left hand side, the reflector part of the light that sits inside the clear lens is a little bit skew whiff. It's a couple of cm closer to the midline of the bike than the right hand side, and when I was fitting them I noticed that the reflector on this side actually had quite a bit of vertical movement, about 1.5-2 inches maybe. I'd never noticed it before, and it doesnt seem to cause any problems or move about to my knowledge when riding, I've not noticed the beams moving at all and I got someone to give the forks a good bounce and it didn't seem to move then, but I just wondered if anyone else has had this problem? Is it a case of taking off the fairing and headlight assembly to fix this? I'm not even sure it's worth doing as you can only notice when you look really closely and it doesn't seem to cause any problems. What is it that secures the reflector into place inside the headlight housing, behind the clear lens?

I can't look at that site at work, as it's blocked - I changed my pointy over to phillips and was very impressed with the difference.

Does the curvy use the same stock 45w bulb as the pointy though? It might be worth noting that some of the difference could well be explained by a 45w versus a 55w bulb...

Ah right, I found the stock pointy ones were ok on a semi decent road, but awful on an unlit country road, finding they were badly out of adjustment when I bought it hadn't helped either

I use main beam on back roads and pull the pass button in when cornering, still not great and if other traffic around not able to do even that. Modern car headlights are blinding.

Not really a fair comparison as even with standard bulbs the pointy headlight is vastly better than the curvy's. In fact pointy with standard bulbs is likely still better than the curvy with the high power bulbs.
