Insuring a friend on my bike

I have two bikes,a GSXR750 and a YBR125. They are both covered under a single policy which is in my name only. I would like to have my housemate insured on the 125 so that he can (once his CBT is sorted) ride it, get used to bikes, have some fun etc.

It is my understanding that you cannot have more than one insurance policy covering a bike so him having his own insurance is out of the question. Also, I doubt I can add him as a named rider on my policy because of the GSXR.

Does anyone know better or know how I could go about getting him on the road legally on my 125?

Cheers!

Far as I'm aware you can insure the same vehcile twice, I questioned that and was told it was ok. But don't claim twice if get stolen ect that will be fraud...I'd check with the insurance and see what they say, just explain the situation.

No chance, I use it daily for commuting.

More than one person on a Multi-bike policy = no-no - the reason for multi-bike being cheaper is that only onr bike is at risk at a time.

At least thats what I was told by my insurer.

Sell him your bike and ride it with 3rd party from the GSXR?

Can't you get him on as a named rider on just the one bike? Or is that difficult because you have two bikes on the one policy as you say....either that or sell it to him and have yourself as a named rider.....

edit: ffs should read OPs properly

I have an sv650 and a ybr125 on one policy. My little bro also has an sv650 on his own policy. He can ride my ybr125 if he like as his insurance allows him to ride bike owned and insured by someone else.

In your situation i would just get your mate to insure himself on the ybr125 with his own policy. What would happen if the ybr125 was stolen and crashed into a car mmmmmmmm........ would the 2 insurance companies split the costs?

This is quite a good idea. We just did insurance quotes and it costs him nothing extra to have me added to a policy under his name.
