Warped Discs? (curvey)
I think one (or both) of my brake discs are warped. I can hear and feel my brakes binding on my front discs, not constant though, more like a pulse. As my journey continues and my brakes get hotter, it becomes more noticeable. At slow speeds it's very noticeable.
2 questions really: What's the best course of action? I have an MOT booked for Saturday morning, is this likely to be a fail? |
Re: Warped Discs? (curvey)
clean and free the callipers off, check the discs buttons are not sized and then ride it like you are bedding the discs in.Usually works for me

Re: Warped Discs? (curvey)
Callipers and pots were cleaned only last week. Think I may need to replace the seales though as they weren't in great nick and the brakes have started sticking again.
What are the buttons? I've never bedded in discs before.. I suppose it would be safe to say I have no idea what I'm doing |
Re: Warped Discs? (curvey)
I had the same prob with my Kwak ZZR, exactly as you decribe. Mine did fail and MOT on warped/crack discs and i has to shell out nearly £400 for new discs and re-test

Re: Warped Discs? (curvey)
:o HOW MUCH?!?!
Well, the bike is at the garage now, having a new C+S set fitted and the MOT done. I spoke with a mechanic at work and he said that it sounds like I have a hot spot on my disc, a good cleaning should do the trick. So right now I await the phone call...hoping for good news. If it passes (or I get an advisory) then I will most definitely order new piston seals to strip and clean both front calipers. |
