Want to get your downpipes clean - EASIEST WAY

Ok folks, dont post here as often as I used to, but I had to tell you about this.

I know SV owners often like to keep their downpipes polished and will spend hours of elbow grease rubbing and polishing until they can see their face.

Well I have now found the solution which I can honestly say is possibly the best cleaning product I have ever seen.

I am in no way affiliated with it, but Optiglanz (available on net and Hein Gericke) is the dogs danglies for cleaning exhausts. I tried it on the Triumph and stuff that I was trying to clean for hours literally ran off in seconds. Its about £13 a bottle but the fact that such a small amount is required (spray bottle) it lasts a long time! I urge anyone to give it a go and post the results on here

Do you have to remove the pipes to do this? wont it eat in to say the engine casing?

Seems to me to be a bit like alibright which we used to paint on and wash off. It brought aluminium up like brand new.
If you were worried about overspray going on the engine paint it on with a brush.

BUT it brings all of the chromium in stainless to the surface and your pipes will discolour even quicker afterwards.
What about this?

That's the bit that caught my eye too. Along with the fact that it eats alloy. I suspect the only way to use the stuff safely would be to remove the pipes and if you're going to go to all that trouble then you may as well just get stuck in and clean the pipes in normal fashion.

I would like to know more about a solvent that is capable of moving crystals within a ferrous alloy.
