What the Hell is Happening to Prices?

Can't help but notice that the asking price of private, used SV's seem to be increasing - perhaps unrealistically so? I bought a SV650SK3 with low mileage and lots of proper extras like Showa rear suspension, Hagon progressive front springs and oil, etc for £1500. People are now asking over £2k for older models. Are these bikes selling? Seems that there are a lot for sale on the forum at the moment, that seem to be sticking for ages. Maybe asking prices are too high?

The retail price has gone up, taking second hand prices with them.

Also the "its only £100 below what I advertised it at" factor has been replaced by "I really need every penny I can get for it" thinking.

Its called economics and its works this way when greedy bankers get it wrong...

I just sold my 99 SV which I owned for 7 months and put 5k on through the winter for £50 more than I paid for it last year. I think the glorious weather helped, plus people are maybe realising that it's cheaper to run fuel-wise, gets you there quicker, and most places let you park for free too.

Plus it well cool..... :)

Yep, it's that time of year. All the hibernating bikers are crawling out from under their compost heaps and looking for a new ride for the summer.

This year may be a little worse than usual because the pound's not doing famously well, and most of the new bikes are imported. So their prices are a bit higher than usual, which drags the second hand prices up a bit too.
