Rear light not working - help please?

My rear light and break light on the Husky isn't working, took it all apart and it simply looked like a blown bulb - phew!

Bought new bulb (double filament) fitted it, brake light work luvvly jubbly, much brighter than ever, but the actual light isn't coming on when I turn the headlamps on...

Any ideas?

check/clean the contacts, is there power to it? and is it the correct bulb?
