Steering stem top nut size?

I need to take the centre nut off my yoke to send off to telferizer as it needs a hole in it to fit the Ram mount, but I don't have the right size spanner / socket.

Looks like it might be a 26 or 28?

Anyone confirm this before I go an buy one?

It is a 32 on my pointy. I know because I had to take mine off. I got a spanner from work to use. They are huge. Could you not get hold of a big adjustable.

Cheers Dan.

Might be able to borrow one, just needed to know what to ask for.

Buy a socket from B&Q, use it, then take it back and get a refund ;)

Bloody hell! Couldn't even find my own thread then(!)

Right I feel like a right spanner asking this, by I've got a 32mm socket, and I'm trying to loosen this nut, but it ain't going. Som much so that the bikes tipping it's stand.

There isn't anything I'm supposed to do with the key position is there (steering lock is off) or do I just give the socket a good tw*t?

On my project curvy it was rusted on.

I finally got it with a long breaker bar while sitting on the bike.

They can be tight. Try apply some skilful swearing.

Just continuing on the GPS theme, another silly question, but I'd rather check than blow all the electrics.

The zumo came with a red wire and a black wire (inline fuse already attached to the red wire). With my logic the safest thing is to connect the relevant wire to the relevant terminals on top of the battery. Right?

Dan suggested something about connecting into the side light, but I took the bulb out, and didn't feel that confident about the connection.

Yes you can either connect to battery for a permanent feed or tap into somewhere else for a switched feed that only works when the bike is switched on.
