Insurance

With our Euro trip well and truely in the planning stages my mind has moved to insurance.

I have just got my new EHIC card through the post. I am also covered on my bike insurance through Carol Nash Euro policy for riding abroad. It also gives me free European breakdown cover. Reading the small print it seems pretty comprehensive.

Question I have is, is that adequate for 10 days in France?

Dan, is that the medical card for abroad?

I thought you could get one from the post office?

Phil,

It is the card that replaced the old E111 that you used to get from the post office. You get them from here:

http://www.nhs.uk/NHSEngland/Healthc...drenewing.aspx

It is to get free medical care in the EU. You will need one of these as a minimum mate.

I would say that is all you need, that's all we had for two weeks anyhow.

Is it worth getting travel insurance ? Just in case one of us got hurt and needed transport back home etc.

Could be worth it, and dont cost alot either. Just make sure cover is included for riding motorcycles as alot of policies exclude it!

My bike policy with Carol Nash includes that in the European Breakdown cover. I have been reading all the small print today inbetween stripping my SV down again.

It covers transport of the bike back, or storage in France. Also cost of a hire core, or rail tickets, and 3 nights accomodation at £60 per night.

When you get 'travel insurance' be aware that most places ie, the Post Office class motorcycling as an extreme sport, and as such will only cover you to be riding a 125cc bike!

When I travelled through France I got my travel insurance through CN, it covered both myself and the OH on the same policy. Obviously this was on top of their European Breakdown cover.
Personal Accident does cover you for motorcycle injuries with CN, they just word it in a funny way.
