Why is OEM stuff so expensive?
So, to date I have spent £824.33 on a complete new front end for my SV after a -slight- off in April, this doesn't include the exhaust being resleeved or the fairing respray (both of these are WIP). Tonight during a moment of curious boredom I decided to see how much it would have cost to repair my sv if I had bought everything straight from Suzuki.
£4960.32!! Isn't an entire brand new sv around the £5k mark these days? How come OEM stuff is so SO expensive? |
Re: Why is OEM stuff so expensive?
coz they doubled their prices last year and when i say doubled i mean overnight. for no apparent reason but decided to blame the current exchange rates at the time.

There was one on here last year for an SRAD that had hit a deer and that was £12k to rebuild (Frame, motor and rear wheel survived if my memory serves me right) I was speaking to a guy the other week about something else and insurance jobs came up. The workshop had to do an insurance job for an RGV250 in the early 90's, they took a 'unplated' one out of the showroom and rebuilt the bike and made wedge on the rest of the parts |

Economy of scale and capitalism. And yes I don't like that answer either.

I figured it would be along these lines, thankfully I've had to buy very little from Suzuki, just the decals and now possibly the speedo sensor magnets. Still quite shocking and annoying though.

possibly hoping to fund the tidal wave and nuclear fallout cleanup 'issue' by inflating sv parts prices? |
