something odd with the breaks
 

Hi All,
I had my front tyre changed on the weekend and since then noticed that the front right disk is being caught by the calliper mounting bolts slightly. i've swapped the bolts over on the two callipers and this has cured it slightly but still happening. is this a sign that the pads need changing or would you say something has twisted somehow?

Can't be anything to do with pads. Have they maybe got your mounting bolts mixed up with someone elses?

Fair point, if he'd had an overly long screw on his break he probably wouldn't be complaining. ;)

Thinking about it, is it always the right hand side that's the problem even when you swapped the bolts?

Double check they've refitted the front wheel correctly, the speedo drive is located correctly and the spacer on the right hand fork is all the way in the fork leg.

Yeah I was assuming a professional outfit wouldn't possibly fit a wheel incorrectly. That would be pretty unforgiveable and quite possibly dangerous. Couldn't happen, could it?

Back in the real world, they've crushed his speedo drive haven't they?

Can you lift the front wheel up with paddock stand etc and see if it spins freely.
It'd be better to identify the problem then take the bike back, point at it and make them fix it than it would for you to dismantle it find a knackered speedo sensor then try claim the cost back from the garage.

I it appears have even less faith in garages than Tam, my fear would be that they've put the caliper back on and somehow managed to get the pads at the same side of the disc and it is infact the piston pots grating not the caliper bolts.

is that possible? the front wheel spindle has a shoulder that should tighten up against the left hand fork leg.
