Extreme weather sleeping bag

I need an extreme weather sleeping bag.
Does anyone have one that they would be willing to lend me? Or does anyone know if it's possible to hire one? Buying one would have to be a last resort.

Extreme weather in this case means up to -20 celcius.

Vango do suitable bags that arnt that expensive.

Mine is suitable for -22c, it doesn't look much though and packs up small enough... First time I used it we were supposed to be in tent in 0c but couldn't get off the boat so had to stay in 23c, sweat was running off me.

Bluefishman, you're right. I am a warm weather type. I hate being cold hence making sure I'm well prepared.

G, thanks for the info. I'll look into it. What fibre is yours made from? The smaller it packs down, the better.

DB, I'm back from South America. You never know, it might be bitterly cold at the AR.:smt001

If you are going to be staying in temperatures up to -20 then a bag that goes that far will not keep you warm and be able to pack down to a small size . I would be tempted to get a smaller size bag (in pack size) and a thermolite liner to go inside it , that way you have a very versatile pack in size and temperature range as well . Some very extreme bags can be massive , even when compressed down .

Something like this will take you down to -7 in comfort , and will go down as low as -12 but you may have one of those nights where you wake up often http://www.lansdaleltd.com/products/...eping-bag.html . It is not too expensive and can pack down nicely , sling in a liner and wear some clothes in there (ideally the ones you are wearing as you can retain the heat from them in the bag)

Re: Extreme weather sleeping bag

Just edited in a bag that may fit the bill . If you do happen to get that bag , then personally I would order the 2 tone one . I tend to spin abit in my sleep and there is nothing worse than waking up in a "Mummy" type bag and not knowing where the damn zip is . I have often woken up facing the back of the bag and have panicked and almost knifed my way out of one lol . I detest having my legs kept together at the bottom by "Mummy" bags as well and feel very restricted by them so I tend to go for a Rectangular shaped bag if I can that can pack down with compression . Handy thing about them is you can also throw in some clothes for the next day in there with you and can change into warmed clothing rather than cool and possibly damp feeling items .

Personally I would rather have a bag that was bigger in size and did the job , than one that packs down to the size of a Baguette and you are cold . The handy thing about one being too warm is you can always open the zip to regulate heat . One that is too thin will give you the worst nights sleep ever as you think you are sleeping but you are not and will spend most of the night Dithering and Chattering .
