Handlebar Muffs

Saw some of these on a bike at Poole Quay Biker's Night tonight. Anyone know if they are any good?

Saw a few comments on t'internet about them slightly pulling in the break lever in some cases, which sounds far from ideal.

On the plus side, I do like the word muff.

I had some and rode through the winter wearing just summer gloves. I found they worked well, only problem was if it was raining hard water would run down my sleeves and into the muffs and collect. Wet muffs not always a good thing ;-) But most of the time they worked a treat. Now ive got heated grips and the combination of the two will make for well toasty hands this winter:-)

I used them last winter, they're better than nowt and I got mine cheap either off here or fleabay. They only pull the brake lever if you...erm...go fast ;)

I would take wet muffs over dry ones any day!

Fit some cheap slim handguards and then put the muffs over the top.

These sort of things work well enough, had them on my Versys for a while until I got some monster BMW guards that mean I don't need muffs any more. The ones sold as Genuine Suzuki accessories at £40 for the DRZ (actually made by Polisport) are some of the cheapest nastiest ones on the market, and can be found on ebay for about 17 quid without the tacky DRZ stickers.

Tucano Urbana neoprene muffs have a rubber sleeve on the outer end that goes over the bar end weight, making them stay in place neatly and stops them flapping about* and dragging on the levers. That's not a great problem with ordinary muffs anyway, but if yours suffer from this put the bar end weight screw and a large washer through the muff which will secure it. Whatever variety of muffs you have, make a couple of small holes in the underside so they don't fill up with rainwater.

Muffs and heated grips are the last word in winter biking luxury.
