Guess not.

Misfire under load or any other random misfires that are hard to trace.

Mine cuts out intermittently at about 6500rpm... sounds about right

Re: I think my ignition coils are breaking down.
Mine ran on one cylinder, but the second would fire randomly.

Re: I think my ignition coils are breaking down.
Had this on my K6. Cutting out was intermittent to begin with, usually when hot, then the front cylinder stopped firing completely one night, ended up coming home on the rear only. If you've done the simple check first (visible plug condition) Remove the spark plug from the cylinder, keep the plug on the lead and hit the starter with the plug (spark end) pointing at the head or frame. Hold the plug by the plastic cap before you turn over. Check the condition, colour and frequency of your spark. Nice healthy spark is blue, not so good is yellow to brown.
If you deem the spark unhealthy, try another plug in good condition and repeat the process. My spark was brown, very weak and intermittent. I bought a moulded coil, lead and cap from ebay for a fiver. Mitsubishi. This was all great fun in the dark. Once thing I did notice is I needed to bump start the bike after is didn't want know to from just the starter. Good luck! |
