Dropped my bike today :(
Need some moral support :( went and dropped my bike today, so gutted. Its only cosmetic damage but im so disappointed.
Im new to bikes, only just passed my test a couple of weeks ago and its only my 3rd time on my SV. Had just filled up my tank full and had to do a U-turn about 5 miles later and it just started to go with the weight. Wasnt expecting it as i hadnt ridden with a full tank before and i had to let it down :( nice fella stopped his car to help me back up with it though. So gutted. Some scratches on the lower fairing, wing mirror and my indicator which also took a chip out of my upper fairing where it bent back. Hopefully just touch up the scratches for now until i can afford a respray. Do i go direct to Suzuki for the paint? |

No don't go to Suzuki, unless you like handing plenty of money over. Find out your paint code and try Paint4u.com, or bikepaints I just purchased some paint from Paint4you, great service and price was ok. http://www.paints4u.com/ Don't worry its a car paint site, the paint codes are common amougst cars & bikes |
Re: Dropped my bike today :(
That sucks dude, don't feel too bad, you probably won't do it again.
Contrary to what you was taught or what people think of it, if you don't feel comfortable on a particular u turn, don't feel like you can't put your feet down, I do it all the time if it's looking dodgy. If you had your feet down or ready you probably would've caught it. |
Re: Dropped my bike today :(
Dont worry hun, weve all done it!! With me it was my first ride on my sv :-(
Consider it a valuable lesson, you'll always be aware now and it focuses your mind. As Special One said, keep your feet down in future, i do!!:p |
Re: Dropped my bike today :(
Another top tip, as you've got lower fairing, buy some R&G crash bungs, make sure you buy the specific ones for Curvy SV with fairing lowers
Motoslider crash bungs are better in most folks opionions, but R&G's require no cutting or sanding of the lowers. http://www.intobikes.co.uk/products/...latest&sd=DESC |
Re: Dropped my bike today :(
Hugs, exactly what I did and I cried lol ... but I am allowed I am a bird and dropped on leg.
I have never done it again x |
Re: Dropped my bike today :(
I know it feels rubbish when it happens but virtually all of us have dropped our bikes at some point. I've owned two bikes and dropped them both. The first time I dropped my bike was the first time I ever went out on my brand spanking new Aprilia RS125, I was gutted at the time.
Live and learn, and as has already been said don't be afraid to put your foot down, it's the cheaper alternative to dropping it. |
Re: Dropped my bike today :(
Dropped mine on the way back from the AR. In McDonalds car park. No excuse, wasn't even moving - I'd kicked the stand down then moved forward slightly without noticing it had knocked the stand back. Lent it over and it just kept going.

The day I bought my first bike (curvy) I turned in to a car park to turn around at night in the dark, suddenly the Tarmac turned to gravel and off I came with the bike landing on my leg, everything scratched! Somehow the tank didn't get touched...
Live and learn, a few weeks you'll be laughing about it! --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=51.217248,0.245174 |
