Bar end weights won't undo

I had tried to undo both my bar end weights, and no joy. I can see the screw head had been mangled before, but I well and truly mangled them now by using an impact driver! I guess to remove them is going to bugger them truly, if so, never mind.

I want them off to fit heated grips.

Any ideas? Big mole grips and twist them off/.

Can you borrow a stud extractor, drill then extract.
Just a thought.

I think they should just pull out shouldn't they? As far as I recall, the bolt fits on an expanding rubber stopper inside the bar, so you may be able to pull them out with some persuasion.

He doesn't say what bike model or bars, so it's "best guess time"

if it's clipons then you can't just pull them out, but if it's original suzuki screws you can take a drill bit larger than the shank and drill the head off the weight will then slip over and leave you will an good inch of stud to get moles of something to get that bit out.

Cheers Mark.

i would presume its a 6mm bolt so use a 7mm-8mm drill bit and drill the head off the bolt then take some mole grips and twist the bolt till loose but dont take it right out then pull the bolt till the rubber bung comes out. measure bolt then order up new ones from here: http://www.aruncas.com/acatalog/M6_C...unk_Allen.html they tend to take their time about posting things so be paitent.

The Curvy's bar ends are straight into the material.

The S bolt is a countersunk item,
Your best bet is to use a 6mm bit and drill the head out, remove the weight and mole grip the remains of the bolt out.

I snapped a bar end clean off in a low speed, ended up giving it to a mechanic to remove the end

Like the above said, drill the head off the countersunk bolt, its the easiest way. Its made of cheese so not hard to drill out. I used a 10mm drill, as this left no bolt head at all.

Then take the stub out with mole grips.

Don't try mole grips on the bar end itself, it'll just spin

I replaced mine with some lovely stainless steel countersunk allan bolts
