Locked cowl/seat......help

Hi All

I’m rather embarrassed to admit this but I have an issue.

On Friday I decided to fit my new tail tidy to my SV650 (pointy), everything went really well.....right up to the point when I put my cowl back on the bike....'click'.....then suddenly realised that I forgot to reattach the lock cable. Doh!

Normally I’m not this stupid but I just totally forgot about the rather important step of reattaching the cable.

So options....saw into the cowl and purchase a new one or try and get into the bike via the under tray??

Anyone know if this has happened before? So annoyed with myself as I only just bought the cowl last week! This along with the hugger fitting issues I had really ruined my day.

Hope someone can help, thank you in advance!

Don't know if this would work but you could remove riders/front seat and slide a small but nimble hand through and up to flick the lever on the catch with a finger, just checked looks possible

i would remove the riders seat and remove the screw that holds the front of the fairing on. Then remove a coupld of the plastic rivets that secure the fairing at the back. That should give you enough movement in the fairing to lift it up and get a grasp on the cable

hehe easily done I guess! Sometimes I stuff so much crap in my seat I'm sure it will get wedged in the mechanism!

You're not the first to do it!
With mine I lifted the right side of the seat as far as it would go & used a long thin screwdriver to push the locking bit free. ( push where the cable nipple normally pulls.) A strong torch also helped.
Best of luck.

Good news everyone!

No saw needed and saved myself £95.

Took the main seat off and managed to force my hand into the cowl inners and flick the catch open!!! Got that catch screwed down ASAP!

Thank you again everyone! Loving this forum!
