Cutting out

K3 MODEL, Very intermittant problem, only done it 6 times in last 2 months and always when engine is hot and accelerating, in first or second gear, engine completely cuts out , red management light comes on. I pull in the clutch and coast to side of road , press starter button, engine cranks but won't start, if I switch off with key , switch on and it starts as normal and rides ok. I thought maybe low oil pressure/surge trips a low pressure sensor ? any help/suggestions gratefully received. if it just stopped running completely, the fault would be relatively easy to find, Fraser

Re: Cutting out

Sounds like electrical sensor error.
Try dealer mode and see what it says.

How to put in dealer mode? See
http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.p...ht=dealer+mode

anything other than C00 (i.e. between C12 and C49) should indicate whats goin wrong.

Re: Cutting out

I've checked the codes and there are no faults showing, I also reset the TPS and it was a long way out, 3200 rpm. whilst I had it in bits I pulled every multi connector to check condition, there were a few grotty conections which I sprayed with contact cleaner. It's prob my imagination but the fuel pump seems to sound better when primeing, Commute to work tomorrow will reveal if it's any better.

Strange!
Forgot to say that fault codes will be lost if you disconnect battery/ main fuse /earthing or main connecctors to the ECM. But will be stored otherwise and you should read the code After switching ignition on And starting the engine.
