Stupidest question of the week

Similar to the other post about the window salesman.

Yesterday I had a group of people visit Lord's and a woman asked 'Is that grass real or is it painted on?'

A bit puzzled by this, I asked if she meant the white lines for the batsman's crease, which are still just visible from the last game, getting ready to explain a batsman needing to get back into his crease to avoid being run out. After all, if you are not a cricket fan this is a reasonable question.

But no, she really was asking if the turf at the 'Home of Cricket' was green painted tarmac made to look like grass.

:stupid:

In a similar vein, we were working on the river Thames, when one of my colleagues looking at the Thames Barrier said, 'Is that the real Thames Barrier?'

Growing up in London I used to see lots of American tourists on the tube. My favourite was overhearing a group of them wondering why the Queen had had a castle (Windsor, I presume) built under the Heathrow flightpath!
