newbie/racing a Gladius
Hola everyone, newbie saying hi from the sunny IOM:cool:.
Is anyone on here racing a Suzuki Gladius????? Im having this mad urge to build a minitwin/supertwin out of one and was looking for advice/views. I know that I could just get a SV but that defeats my object really. Cheers DAPS. (I know that there was a racing series in Italy that raced them) Any ideas would be great. |
Re: newbie/racing a Gladius
Ayyup Daps, welcome to the Org. Dont know much about the Gladius tbh, a quick look on tinterweb suggests the motor is very simular (a good thing), and the frame looks trellis stylee so thats quite a bit different. The good thing with the SV is theres loads of spares/upgrades for racing easily available, be interesting to hear from anyone who has upgaded the Gladius to see if the bits are as easy to get hold of, and the best way to go etc.
Good luck! See you up Jurby on the 24/25th Sept |
Re: newbie/racing a Gladius
The Gladius is classed as a separate model in minitiwns so certian parts can't be swapped from the SV's.
TBH motorwise the Gladius motor is better as it runs coated barrels whereas the SV's don't (no doubt will when they jam the Gladius motor in the SV) PM SV650Racer as i think they've done a couple of gladdies as minitwins |
Re: newbie/racing a Gladius
:)Thanks for your replies guys. Well all the bits are available, albeit from all over the world. I'll give it some further thought and research and keep an eye out for a crash damaged one[-o<. Think it would be an awesome tool.
Yeh see you up Jurby Chris. I aint racing but doing the school on the Sunday on the RSV4:p Cheers DAPS |
Re: newbie/racing a Gladius
OK just to re-bump this thread.
Well I have finally done it after many years on from the original post and got myself a very tidy 2011 black SFV650 to convert for track/race use. Any/all advice would be very welcome indeed!!!! Cheers daps |

Sorry its taken a while to post any pics but my device is very old so I had to get my son to sort them.
Its coming along slowly, jobs done so far. 1. R+g crash bobbins and paddock stand bobbins and rad guard. 2. Clipons and rental grips. 3. K+n air filter. 4. Valtermoto rearsets. 5. Braided front and rear lines. 6. Sub frame cut down. 7. Decat pipe on its way along with a very trick seat unit. 8. Evomoto top yoke nut. 9. Hrc rear res. 10. Probably forgot a few things. Next job is fit the decat pipe and seat unit. Then find a can and a power commandeer and get a custom map. When I can afford it I will start looking down the suspension route but that may be over the Winter. Cheers daps |
