Suzuki DR650- Anything to watch for?

As per the title.

Has anyone had any experiences with the big ol' thumper?
Thinking about buying one for a change of tune.

Also any other suggestions for a single 500cc+ for around £1,000- 1,300

Muddy times ahoy!!!

Andy

Why do you need 500cc plus? Is it ever going to do a long journey?

I thinking 500+ as they're bit cheaper and the dr 350's and venerable drz400 hold their values very well. Also a 350 or 400 would end up with me following a friend and tuning the hell out of it!

I'm wanting the bigger that can do 70-80 comfortably without the pipes glowing white hot

Don't worry about speed. The kind of bikes your looking at are not much faster. My XT and Specialone's DRZ are about on a par. I have a lot more torque which is useful off-road and for lazy riding on the road, and I have another 10 BHP or thereabouts, but I also have about 30kg more, so on the road, the XT isn't any quicker.

NX650 Honda dominator, absolutely bomb proof, and still fantastic off road

Edit: and great fun on the road, go down the right roads and you can make sports bike riders look really silly
