Curvy headlight upgrade?

I want brighter headlights basically, the std curvy ones are s***e.

Was thinking Osram Nightbreakers and LED sidelight bulbs.

I have heard horror stories of these LED sidelights causing damage to wiring but i would have thought fusses would go before this happened.

What are peoples opinions/suggestions??

Nightbreakers get the Ride magazine recommended rating.

Osram nightbreakers or Phillips X-treme H4 make a big difference in a curvy, but don't expect to suddenly have a pair of search lights on the front.... but it is a masive improvement over stock.

As has been said really, and the LED's cause no electrical problems because they use far less power. What you might be thinking of is when people fit LED indicators and then fit resistors to slow the flash rate down, the resistors get seriously hot and the much better way of doing it is to fit a LED flasher relay.

I was actually reading about them messing up wiring in cars, I'm not too worried just wanted a second opinion.

I don't expect them to be like search lights just at the moment I think a couple of tea light would be brighter!

Has anyone stuck these LED's behind the clocks, I imagine it looks the biz.

I upgraded my H4's to Osram Nightbreaker Plus's. Certainly a worthwhile upgrade - I got mine off eBay for about £13. I also got 1.5W SMD sidelights which fitted easily and look great. The only downside is that they are so white they make the Nightbreakers look yellow :)

If I'm not mistaken, the issue with the LED sidelights is in cars with a canbus wiring system.

Just an idea here, but to improve the lights could you not build an uprated loom direct from the battery using the Standard SV wiring as trigger only?

One relay per bulb, power straight from the battery, should all but eliminate voltage drop caused by the standard crappy wiring...

Just throwing it out there, used to make upgrade looms for Old VWs, and they made a hell of a difference on the cars, same principle on the SV?

Ive got leds in all my dash lights, the speedo goes from yellow, then red in the middle, then blue on the far right under the rev counter, just to see what it would look like. Still there a year on ;)
