Visor Cleaning - what product do you find the best?
So what product do you find the best for visor cleaning?
Either everyday household product, bike specific or other? Any tips beyond the damp paper towel that I've always used? |
Re: Visor Cleaning - what product do you find the best?
After a days riding id just take my visor off, put a damp cloth over it for 10mins and go wipe it off, nothing special really, Although I've heard Muc-Off do a good visor cleaner?

I just use hot water and a cloth

the V sponge is quite good if you're out and about a need a clean, but I generally use a bit of furniture polish as it beads the water and the wind then runs it off, you can do the same with neat washingup liquid and then polish it off, there are motorbike specific products that do the same thing and for longer, but it's convenient and quick.
Cheers Mark. |

Keep a layer of wax polish on it like Mark and a microfibre cloth with me whilst out an about.
A bit of spit and a rub - gleaming! Pete ;) |
Re: Visor Cleaning - what product do you find the best?
Anything non abrasive, I use the blue muc off visor cleaner, it works very well, even on heavy fly covered visors.
Avoid rough cloths as over time you will get swirls and light scratches, I've got some proper soft visor cloths but like some others I do also use microfibre cloths but just don't use a lot of effort as even these can cause fine swirl marks. |
Re: Visor Cleaning - what product do you find the best?
I keep a £1 spray-bottle of generic window cleaner and a micro fibber cloth in my box.

V sponge while out and about, but the visor is prepped with nikwax visor proof to bead water off so I don't have to wipe it with mucky gloves.

Re: Visor Cleaning - what product do you find the best?
rain-x 2in1. been using it all year and its the mutz nutz. asda are doing it for £3, while your there get one of those £1 spray bottles for gleaning glasses. empty the glasses cleaner down the sink and fill with rain-x 2in1.
spray leave for a min then wipe off, job jobbed. i have also noticed that lint free cotton (old t shirt) works better than microfibre as i find the microfibre leaves tiny little fibres behind. |
Re: Visor Cleaning - what product do you find the best?
Wet napkin or toilet tissue while out and about but I spray my visor with silicone spray and polish when dried every now and then which acts as a very good water repellent and makes it easy to get crud off.
P.S Microfibre clothes make me sneeze when I use them on the inside of my visor so I am an "Old T shirt" addict aswell |
