Cracked lower fairing.
Whilst washing my bike today I noticed that the left lower fairing is cracked; the crack starts right at the bottom of the fairing going vertically for around 3 or 4 inches (at a guess). As it is so far down you do not see it when you are normally looking at the bike and as I haven't had chance to even wash the bike for around 6 weeks I have only just noticed it today.
Is there anything I can do myself to fix this problem? I can't really afford to buy a new lower fairing at this time. Any advice is welcome. Cheers Ant |
Re: Cracked lower fairing.
To stop it getting worse you need to drill a small hole at each end of the crack, this will stop the crack from lengthening. Not so sure about the repair though.

Re: Cracked lower fairing.
get some fibre glass resin and mend it from the inside.

Or use Araldite, drill the holes at either end as someone has said and then Araldite washers at either end to it and then repair just to re-enforce the crack. |
Re: Cracked lower fairing.
never had any issues with fibre glass resin repairs-must be down to the repairers skill:)

Re: Cracked lower fairing.
I've found a body shop that I'm going to take it to, see what he can do with it. Tried taking the fairings off to put them in my dads car but one of the bolts is completely stripped so I'll have to ride there with the cracked fairing; just hope it doesn't make it any worse!
Thanks for the advice though guys :) |

My lowers cost me 40 quid on EBay and they were in a s*** condition. Q-bond and a load of elbow grease (and a pro paint job) and they are the DBs |
