New K9 first impressions / front suspension + mirrors
 

Hi all,

I picked up my new K9 last night and it feels totally different to my K2. Engine feels smoother (fuel injection I guess) and controls feel nice.

The ride is a bone-shaker though and wondered if this might be due to preload settings. I looked at the manual and it appears to be on standard setting? I wonder if turning in either direction will help smooth this out at all. Seen plenty of threads after searching which says change the whole front forks but I can't believe they would perform so much worse in standard form than the curvy forks which I found fine.

Also, I added mirror extenders to my curvy which were a revelation, but I seem to be back to looking at my elbows on this one. Anyone else found this problem or should I perserve with adjusting the standard ones?

Other than that I love the digital dash, the looks and I'm sure I'll get used to the riding position which feels radically different which goes against my local Suzuki dealer who said "once you've rode one SV you've rode them all".

They're totally differnt bikes, everything from ride position to power delivery is different.
loved my pointy, pretty sure I'll own another one day.

RE: mirrors, I did the gsxr mirror conversion and found visibilty greatly improved.

I had a K9 hire bike for a week recently while my K3 was being repaired, to be honest I could hardly ride it because it was even lower and sleeker than my K3. I swear it weighed next to nothing and even with a throttle restriction it felt lithe and fast. Absolutely beautiful bike, mirror extenders are a must though along with a comfort kit!
In regards to suspension, I found it to be very precise and direct, similar to my bike, but more firm. I have to be honest, I liked it.

Made me realise that there are a few things I need to do to my precious Sylvie to make her lovely, full power ECU is a must!

mirror extenders are a definate requirement..although I do like the idea of gixer mirrors. :)

I'm wondering if my K2 mirror spacers will fit, the photos on ebay of the spacers look the same! What does the comfort kit comprise of Jayne?

Renthal handlebar, risers and new top yoke! Sadly, now that I am officially an old woman, I can't ride clip ons anymore. :smurfin:

There used to be a guy Matt on here making comfort kits which included top yoke, handlebars, new acceleration cables and brake lines, and bar ends etc.
You would probably need a better screen with the comfort screen, to compensate for the more upright position.

I have it on mine and transformed a good bike into a great one. OK, you don't look as sporty anymore but comfort wise, great improvement.

Mirror extenders are a must, I went further and added the bandit ones which are a tad longer and taller, but a direct replacement for about £50.
