Can I use any carb model replacement engine?
Hi all,
Searched and couldn't find an answer so a quick question. I've found a replacement SV650S engine which I'm considering for my K2 engine which I managed to let run dry... :smt086 Can I use any of the carb engines as a direct replacement, ie. an engine from an X, Y, K1 or K2 bike? Having asked before I already know that K3> won't work because of the fuel injection. Dave |
Re: Can I use any carb model replacement engine?
yes you can, and with parts from your old one and a mod to negate the oil cooler you can also use the later injected one with your carbs fitted.

Thanks! The K3> onwards option adds a bit of buying scope too!

Re: Can I use any carb model replacement engine?
saw a curvy at the weekend with a pointy engine fitted while i was picking up an engine, guy said that he actually found the curvy engine pulled better than the pointy with carbs fitted-weird?

Re: Can I use any carb model replacement engine?
The injected motor works very well in the carbed bike, alot of minitwin guys run injected motors in their carby bikes, the motor loves the carbs. I have a very good injected motor for sale, it may be out of your budget though but has had over £1000 worth of full refresh work done on it as it was a spare for our race bikes but never got used.

Re: Can I use any carb model replacement engine?
I assume that when you put injected cams into a carby engine you are doing the same thing (accept for gear select changes K5 onwards)?
Do you use the inj airbox or do the carbs / tank not fit? Are there any other changes to the engine in inj trim with carbs? |
